RHYTHMIC ECHOES

solo show Tim Vranken

OPENING WEEKEND 5 & 6 MARCH 2022

Tim Vranken is a Belgian furniture designer who focuses on solid, handmade furniture. Throughout his designs the use of pure materials and honest natural processes are paramount.
Tim’s aim as a designer is to create a refined piece of furniture so that it does not need anything other than itself to create harmony.

In his first gallery solo exhibition, Tim shows parts of his collections. The TRAAF sofa has been around since 2018, but with its design language it fits perfectly the concept of the arrangement. She will be given a new version for this exhibition. A new piece of furniture within the NORMA collection is also on display. Tim makes again the characteristic drawing of Yellow Pine visible through ellipses against to cut the  wood wire.

Finally, he presents his latest collection ARCUS. In ARCUS we see reverberations of architectural fragments of the past. Tim filters ornaments from old buildings and takes them out of proportion. We could say that the resultis disproportionate peristyls.
Columns and arches are not the only ancient shapes Tim plays with in this collection.
Through a rhythmic alternation of kops and longwoods, he creates a trompe-l'oeil in the top of his furniture.
